why does my 96 2 door tahoe shake at stops and occasionally at slow speeds
l have had the block changed out and many parts replaced, but l still get a
shake and some bad smells when it is idleing at stops. Not only that after
putting a new starter it still takes a while to start, but when l turn it
off after just turning it on and turn it right back on it starts without a
problem is there anyone who may know what is wrong with my truck? would an
egr valve be the problem? l HAVE NOW CHANGED THE EGR VALVE, SEEMED TO HAVE HELPED A LITTLE, IT DID NEED REPLACING AFTER l SAW THE OLD ONE, BUT l STILL HAVE A SHAKE, THE SPARK PLUGS ARE NEW, BUT COULD IT BE THE WIRES? />l HAVE NOW CHANGED THE EGR VALVE, SEEMED TO HAVE HELPED A LITTLE, IT DID NEED REPLACING AFTER l SAW THE OLD ONE, BUT l STILL HAVE A SHAKE, THE SPARK PLUGS ARE NEW, BUT COULD IT BE THE WIRES?
im not sure but go to the car dealer ship for them to check it
out.
Does it take longer than usual to start if it has been sitting
for awhile?If so may be fuel pressure regulator.If you have access to a
fuel pressure gauge,start the truck and look at pressure,turn off truck
and if preesure brops to 0 within A few minutes, i would suspect faulty
regulator
Go to an Auto Parts store and get a spark plug wire tester.Test
each wire one at a time while engine is running.You could have a bad wire
and it may be at low idle that it acts up and smoothes out at higher rpms'
Also check coil pack for ignition at each 'high tower' this is where the
plug wire attaches to get ignition spark.If everything is OK, check for
engine compression, you could have a weak cylinder/s
This is a tough one. I would start by giving it a complete tune
up. Get a book on it and start diagnosing different parts such as furl
pressures, oil pressures. Very likely that bad smell is a smell like
rotten eggs. Which says its a fuel problem. Its hard to know for sure. But
with the tune up and concentrating on the fuel problems such as pressure
flow.you will most likely find your problem is in there. Good luck. You
can never go wrong giving your car a complete turn up anyways.
I am leaning towards M.A.P. sensor, take it to Chevy and let
them check it.
sounds like a tune-up problem
sounds like a fuel pump. check your fuel pressure. egr is
possible , but mass air flow sensor is more likely if fuel pressure checks
good
My car used to do the same thing, check the engine mounts and
make sure they are the right size for the engine.
